Membership
The Governing Committee is composed of organizations sponsoring at the Platinum level as well as elected representatives from the Gold membership level and an OWD Staff representative. Each Platinum sponsor may appoint a representative and an alternate. Gold sponsors will elect one representative per every 3 Gold memberships. The OWD Staff Representative will be the Lead Tech Writer.
The Governing Committee may appoint individual advisors to participate in GC meetings at its discretion.
Sponsorship Terms
Sponsorship terms are for one year. Sponsorships renew on a yearly basis. The sponsorship term is January 1 to December 31. Platinum sponsors should report their renewal intentions to the GC by September 30. Invoices will be sent on January 1. Payment must be received by March 31.
Sponsorship Levels and Tiers
Open Web Docs offers tiered sponsorship levels in order to support participation from a diverse group of organizations based on size, financials, and resource bandwidth. Discounts may be offered for organizations making multi-year commitments.
Platinum Sponsorship
Platinum Sponsorship fees are $250k annually. As a Platinum sponsor, the organization is entitled to:

Appoint one representative and one alternate representative to the
Governing Committee.
- Includes @openwebdocs.org email address

Appoint 2 representatives to the
Steering Committee.
- Includes invitation to participate in regular content meetings

Provide quotes, statements, blog articles and other thought-leadership
input on Open Web Docs press releases, Impact Reports, blog posts and
other relevant documents.
- Opportunity to participate in Open Web Docs reports, articles and other materials.
- Early access to reports and data gathered by Open Web Docs staff about developer needs.
- Recognition as a Platinum sponsor along with prominent placement of brand/logo mark on Open Web Docs web assets (website, open collective page, etc).
- Acknowledgement in public presentations and reports authored by Open Web Docs staff, inclusive of logo where appropriate.
Gold Sponsorship
Gold Sponsorship fees are tiered according to the table below:
Between 1 and 50 Employees | $25,000 |
Between 51 and 200 Employees | $75,000 |
More than 201 Employees | $125,000 |
As a Gold sponsor, the organization is entitled to:
- Nominate one representative for election to the Governing Committee from the Gold sponsor members.
- Appoint a representative to the Steering Committee.
- Early access to reports and data gathered by Open Web Docs staff about developer needs.
- Recognition as a Gold sponsor along with placement of brand/logo mark on Open Web Docs web assets (website, open collective page, etc).
- Acknowledgement in public presentations and reports authored by Open Web Docs staff.
Silver Sponsorship
Silver Sponsorship fees are tiered according to the table below.
Between 1 and 50 Employees | $5,000 |
Between 51 and 200 Employees | $10,000 |
More than 201 Employees | $20,000 |
As a Silver sponsor, the organization is entitled to:
- Appoint a representative to the Steering Committee.
- Recognition as a Silver sponsor along with placement of brand/logo mark on Open Web Docs web assets (website, open collective page, etc).
- Acknowledgement in public presentations and reports authored by Open Web Docs staff.
Associate Membership
At the discretion of the Governing Committee, Associate Membership may be granted to non-profit organizations. Associate Membership will be evaluated based on the organization's interest and investment in web documentation, and will be reviewed on an annual basis. At the discretion of the Governing Committee, Associate Members may be invited to put forward a representative in the Governing Committee as a non-voting representative.
Additional Acknowledgments
- The Governing Committee wishes to specially recognize the early financial support provided by Coil which allowed the timely formation of Open Web Docs. In recognition of this support, Coil will remain on the Governing Committee through 2022.
- A spot is held on the Governing Committee for Gold sponsors even in the event there are fewer than 3 sponsors.
- In-kind sponsorships, in the form of development resources, personnel, or other infrastructure, will be specially acknowledged as appropriate but will not confer the benefits of a sponsorship class.
